About This Journal
Journal Overview Statement
The NRIAG Journal of Astronomy and Geophysics (Print ISSN: 2090-9977 | E-ISSN: 2090-9985) is an international, peer-reviewed, Diamond Open Access journal published by the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), Egypt. All articles are freely accessible immediately upon publication, and no article processing charges (APC) or publication fees are charged to authors.
The journal covers two principal fields: Astronomy and Space Science, including astrophysics, cosmology, planetary science, solar and solar-terrestrial physics, and related areas; and Geophysics, encompassing theoretical, observational, computational, and applied studies of the Earth's structure, dynamics, properties, and physical processes. The journal serves a global community of researchers, academics, professionals, and practitioners working across these fields.
The journal aims to advance scientific understanding of celestial phenomena, space environments, and the Earth's physical processes by disseminating high-quality original research, critical reviews, and methodological and technological advances. It welcomes observational, theoretical, computational, experimental, and applied research in astronomy, space science, geophysics, and related disciplines.
The journal operates under a continuous publication model and publishes articles in English. The NRIAG Journal of Astronomy and Geophysics follows the ethical principles and guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), including its Core Practices and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

Journal History
The NRIAG Journal of Astronomy and Geophysics was established under its current title in 2012 by the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG). It succeeded two separate NRIAG publications, the NRIAG Journal of Astronomy and the NRIAG Journal of Geophysics, which had been published annually since 2002. The journal has been Open Access since its establishment in 2012. It was published in partnership with Elsevier from 2012 through 2018, followed by Taylor & Francis from January 2019 through 2025. From 2026, the journal is published by the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), with its journal publishing platform and associated infrastructure provided through the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB), as applicable. The journal subsequently transitioned to the Digital Commons publishing platform by Elsevier to support its continued development and alignment with international standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.
Publishing Schedule
The NRIAG Journal of Astronomy and Geophysics operates under a continuous publication model, with one volume published per calendar year. Articles are published online on a rolling basis throughout the year as soon as they have successfully completed peer review, been accepted, and completed the production process. Published articles are added directly to the current annual volume without waiting for a scheduled issue release.
Each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and a unique article number. Rather than using traditional page ranges, articles are identified and cited using the journal title, volume, year, and article number, in the following format:
NRIAG Journal of Astronomy and Geophysics [Volume] ([Year]) [Article Number]
